Keeping in mind the density of settlement and population in the Basti, the project team has devised ingenious means to integrate healthy environment into the built fabric of the basti. The basti children who are a part of the Eco Club create environmental awareness through activities like terrace plays, roof-gardens, no-plastic zones etc. The Barapullah Nallah which runs along the Basti edge, has been desilted, and is being landscaped as a green belt by the team. The toilets in the houses along the nallah have been connected to the main sewage line, and regular community interaction ensures that the residents become a participant in keeping the area and Basti clean.
