The need assessment of March 2008 conducted by the Community Medicine Department of AIIMS suggested the upgrading of services at the facility level. The upgradation suggested was additional human resources and additional facilities to improve diagnostic and curative services. Specifically, they suggested setting up a pathology laboratory to improve referrals; providing services of a gynaecologist, paediatrician and a pathologist.

Referral services improved with the pathology laboratory set up in August 2008 and by providing diagnostic equipment to doctors. Till June 2017, the polyclinic has conducted 200845 tests. This laboratory caters to the fixed and floating population in Nizamuddin as well as the areas around it.

The access to the polyclinic was improved by the street improvement, landscaping of the area and the enroute park.

Together, these have led to almost doubling of the per-day patient load in the polyclinic.
