With the enactment of the Right to Education Act in 2010, a School Management Committee (SMC) became mandatory for every school.

The SMC was set up in 2012. One of the clauses specified in the Act is that 75 per cent of the SMC members must be parents of children studying in the school.

Setting up the SMC has helped to develop and deepen linkages of the community in the functioning of the school.

The SMC now monitors the school on a regular basis and submits reports to the Department of Education and follows up on action taken and action needed.
