Zaika-e-Nizamuddin was set up as a response to the high degree of malnourishment and stunting of children in Nizamuddin.
A study on the eating habits revealed that the major of poor eating was the unhealthy snacking of the children – a practice that caregivers were responsible for several reasons – ease of availability/ convenience and aspirational nature of these snack foods being two major ones.

A group of mothers of young children were motivated to form a group to produce and sell low cost nutritious snacks to children in key locations in Nizamuddin. This group subsequently added the cuisine of Nizamuddin to its repertoire.

Zaika-e-Nizamuddin handles snacks, supplementary nutrition and the cusine of Nizamuddin and is on its way of becoming an independent unit.
