Maalis/Gardeners

Nearly a hundred years ago, when Sunder Nursery was first founded, its prime purpose was to experiment tree species sourced from Britain’s various colonies for New Delhi. But in 2007, when the project began, less than 10% of was Sundar Nursery, was utilized as an active nursery at the onset of the project. As part of the landscape development, additional nursery beds, gardens around historic monuments, biodiversity zones, and planned planting has been carried out at various locations in Sundar Nursery. This has resulted in Sudnar Nursery becoming a unique urban landscape space which has a mix of both formal gardens and forest-like portions. A devoted team of trained gardeners/maalis looks after the upkeep of these zone which continues to be developed and will become an asset also for the city of Delhi.
